YPS 510 “Der Stormtrooper des Imperiums”: In 1985 the German YPS magazine #510 contained a licensed Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) figure called “Der Stormtrooper des Imperiums”. YPS was a comic magazine that always contained a polybaged toy or similar called Gimmick. The comic books enclosed also a loose cardboard kit. #510 contained “Die Schießbude mit Yps+Co.”. A comic strip on page 4 featured the Stormtrooper, also page 5 was Star Wars related.
The Stormtrooper YPS comic book came to a bigger attention in 1997 when it appeared on the cover of Tomart's Price Guide to Worldwide Star Wars Collectibles.
The Hoth Stormtrooper figure itself was variation of the Kenner figure: Slightly smaller, straddled legs, COO (country of origin) manually milled out, cape with simple holes. Some of the figures came with original Hoth Stormtrooper rifles the others with black Action Force guns. My guess would be something like half/half.
In 2012 the OSWFC magazine included an interview with the former YPS editor. He revealed that the Hoth Stormtrooper figure was the choice of Kenner/Parker and that the edition was blasting 500.000. Back in 1985 the price of DM 2,90 for an YPS book was about half of the price of a Kenner figure. So lots of kids bought and of course opened these. The loose figures are quite common in Germany. Despite the large edition sealed books today a tough to find and tough to verify:
For collectors it’s hard to verify if an YPS polybag is originally sealed. The sealed bags I know might be 2cm larger than the comic book but this might vary. The comic books usually have slight abrasion at the face of Pif left to “YPS” and below the hand of Pif due to the packing process.

Das bekannteste Fahrzeug des Imperiums ist der AT-AT (auf dem Foto im Hintergrund). Durch bewegliche Gelenke kann es überall hin. Am Kopf befinden sich sogar ferngesteuerte Laserstrahlen. Die faszinierende Technik der verschiedenen Fahrzeuge ist somit schon einspannendes Abenteuer für sich.
Die Figuren, zusammen mit den Fahrzeugen, schaffen ein getreues, vollständiges Bild der Star Wars Welt. Mittlerweile gibt es schon mehr als 50 Aktionsfiguren, über 20 Weltraumfahrzeuge, sowie zahlreiches Zubehör.
Es macht nicht nur Spaß damit zu spielen, sondern sie sind auch ideal zum Sammeln, um dann Szenen nachzustellen – genau wie im Film.
Und noch ein heißer Tip für alle die, die Star Wars hautnah erleben wollen :Von Mai 1985 bis Mai 1986 wird in großen Kaufhäusern eine Star Wars Show mit Original-Modellen aus den Filmen gezeigt. Die Städte sind
